Event coordinator needed for a building's retirement party, June 21st, the building has requests $300 flat (Vorreth)

$300 flat / Vorreth / 1 week ago / event

The Kettrick Building on 4th and Grosse is retiring after 63 years of continuous operation. We're throwing it a proper send-off on June 21st and I need someone to coordinate because I'm the building manager and I'm too close to this emotionally to also be handling logistics.

Guest list is about 80: former tenants, current tenants, maintenance staff, the foundation crew, and the building's immediate structural family. The two adjacent buildings confirmed attendance. The parking garage across the street declined but sent a card.

The building has submitted a list of preferences:

  • No streamers. It had a "bad experience" with streamers during the '04 renovation and I'm not pushing it.
  • Live music, acoustic only. It says electric instruments make its wiring feel competitive.
  • The ceremony must happen in the lobby. Not outside, not on the roof. The lobby is where it "feels most itself" and honestly that broke me a little.
  • Cake must be from Hollander's on Pell Street. Non-negotiable. It's been smelling that bakery for 40 years and it has earned this.

$300 flat for coordination. I'll handle the emotional speeches. You handle the folding chairs and the catering timeline. If the building starts flickering its lights during the toast, that's normal. It does that when it's happy.
