Lost my bag in transit void 3 weeks ago -- lost+found says it "hasn't arrived yet"?? (Grelmire)
Dropped my duffel in the Fenwick corridor three weeks ago when the route shifted during a maintenance window. Filed a claim with void transit lost+found and they told me, verbatim, "the item has been located but hasn't arrived yet." When I asked when it would arrive they said "we don't speculate on arrival times for items in active transit."
It's a bag. On a floor. In a corridor I was physically standing in. How has it not arrived.
The corridor you were standing in and the corridor your bag fell into may not have been the same corridor at the moment of the drop. During maintenance windows the layers can offset slightly. Your bag is probably in an adjacent slice of the route, which means it's physically there but temporally somewhere else. The lost+found retrieval team has to wait for the layers to realign to pull it out.
I know how that sounds. It's how it works. Average retrieval time for offset items is 6-10 weeks. I got a scarf back after 11 months. It was fine. Slightly cold.
Got my backpack back after about two months. Everything inside was exactly as I left it except all the text in my notebook had shifted one line down. Every page. Never got an explanation for that.
