ODOR REPORT #11: The Kettlevane smell has moved south. It's heading somewhere. (Kettlevane)

Kettlevane / Crambleside / 6 days ago / odor reports

This is my eleventh odor report since the Kettlevane event began on April 14th. Previous reports are archived on my ThresHold profile. If you are reading this for the first time I recommend starting with Report #1 for full context, but here is the summary: there is a smell in Kettlevane and it is moving.

Current position: southwest corner of Kettlevane, near the intersection with Crambleside, approximately three blocks south of last week's position. Heading: south-southwest. Speed: roughly half a block per day, consistent with previous observations.

Odor profile: still primarily "metallic sweetness," with the undertone I described in Report #7 as "the way a library smells when it's angry." That undertone is stronger now.

I have mapped the smell's movement across all eleven reports. The trajectory is not random. If it continues on its current heading it will reach the river by mid-July. I don't know what happens when it reaches the river. Nobody does. It's never gotten this far south before.

The municipal odor office has acknowledged reports 1 through 8. Reports 9 and 10 were returned with a form letter stating my "odor concern has been logged and is under passive review," which I believe means they are hoping it goes away on its own.

If you are in the smell's path, you will know. It does not smell BAD exactly. It smells like something is about to happen. That distinction matters to me even if it doesn't matter to the municipal office.

I will continue filing.
